Emoji Map
Makes our city emotionally smarter
Emoji Map creates tasks for homeless people and turns their disadvantages into their strength.
What is the strength of homeless people?
M I S S I O N
To create a visual system to indicate the emotional elements of the city with the help of young homeless, in order to improve the relationship between the homeless and the public.
V I S I O N
To give a chance to young homeless people where they can use their observational skills by creating a system to collect data which can’t be measured by digital sensors.
What is Grand Challenge?
For this unique project, the RCA School of Design partnered with
CERN in Geneva, birthplace of the World Wide Web and the Large Hadron
Collider. Together we examined how innovative and disruptive
technologies can help address the world’s most intractable challenges, by
design.
We were seeking to generate innovative approaches that exploit the most
exciting technologies from CERN and beyond. We worked with CERN’s
innovation hub IdeaSquare to apply design thinking and creative techniques to create concepts that can inspire the world’s most innovative businesses and governments to deliver truly impactful solutions.
We are introducing Emoji Map to develop a more emotionally in-tune society by creating a system to collect data which can not be measured by digital sensors.
With the use of Augmented Reality, we will read the emotion of the city through the general public to advertise the most desirable locations, local shops and job opportunities in your local area.
Emojis gathered on devices loaned out to the public will advertise the subject matter and location of what you seek. Our plan is to provide a workspace for the young homeless community to utilize observational skills by designing a credit system.
